What they were handed was even more ruinous than expected: they were handed explosive situations, dishonest traps and gaping holes. The EU departure is showing itself as more financially damaging than predicted, currently costing the exchequer £80bn annually.

The Difficulties Mounting

They face unfortunate circumstances: the Trump administration coincided with their watch. What worse mishap than a prison officer freeing a rejected refugee sexual predator? Channel migrants feel relentless.

A poorly timed leadership contest currently was certain to give Keir Starmer a setback. The 11% vote share at the Welsh parliament byelection might not even be their worst performance.

They expect criticism, but they're only human. Frequently, the Health Secretary dares say what all can see: that we're experiencing "deep disillusionment in this country at the moment" and "a growing sense of despair about whether anyone is capable of turning this country round".

Voter Perception Baffles

However, despite this, the current vitriolic state of voter perception is puzzling and worrying. The Labour leader is the most unpopular prime minister ever. Truly?

He embodies a honorable, committed person of good intentions, without undue arrogance or vanity. Contrast this with the former Prime Minister, Liz Truss, or the casual assumption of the ex-Prime Minister, all with so little to warrant arrogant assurance.

Political Obstacles

Yet, the public argues, the current PM is poorer. As the nation's leader, he lacks personal magnetism, observers note: more significantly, he is missing governing flexibility, innovative approaches or understanding of public sentiment.

The party erred regarding reductions to pensioners and disabled people, contrasted with expanded benefits in different sectors. Uncertain which voters to appeal to, ministers have permitted beneficial programs unpromoted, including employment protections to green investment, new towns and a youth guarantee.

Political Strategy

Too many senior advisors persist in thinking conservative-leaning voters demands attention, when almost twice as many voters have moved leftwards since Labour took office. Survey specialist the renowned analyst cautions leadership to stop chasing Farage supporters: they're lost.

Keir Starmer is underperforming; the evidence is clear when surveys indicate no leader could ever return from such unprecedented lows.

Yet, during the uncharted waters of such extreme volatility, history may be no guide. The Prime Minister rescued Labour from the period following Corbyn state of despair that history said couldn't be fixed in a single parliament.

Possible Outcomes

Could another leader do better, or have we reached a near-ungovernable, insatiable public state of mind? Every administration may be rejected just as rapidly after taking office, regardless of electoral margin, only if it appears in a gilded chariot offering substantial benefits for stricken public services and cash-strapped families.

Predictably, panic on the back benches will make discussion about replacing the leader rife if May's elections go according to negative projections – or, various commentators argue, sooner.

Future Directions

Officials face a contradiction: The party's sole opportunity lies in despair. Assume they will be wiped out whatever, so utilize their significant numbers for four more years to follow their natural social democratic instinct: implement substantial tax changes, raising plenty.

Anticipate defeat future elections, so implement all policies immediately. Ignore survey results and public consultations; allow citizens to observe sincerity in their purpose. The only way to rebuild credibility is to execute clearly what they think most correct and reasonable.

Labour's duty is to implement required actions to stop this development. Plan for partnerships, be acceptable to allied groups when political labels is overshadowed by the deep red line against a governance risk unprecedented in modern history.

This represents a mission to drive out despair.
