Person That Grabbed Ariana Grande during Red Carpet Event Banned from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who jumped over a barricade and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been sent away and banned from Singapore.
Johnson Wen, twenty-six, was given a sentence to more than a week in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," Singaporean immigration authorities informed Singaporean press.
He forced his way past photographers and charged at the performer and artist, who was present at the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.
The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of re-traumatising Grande.
The singer has mentioned dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the English city in several years ago took the lives of 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.
Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event twice, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Protection personnel intercepted him and pinned him down.
He then uploaded recordings appreciating the celebrity for permitting his access and said he was "released."
Law enforcement arrested him the subsequent day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which he confessed.
The Court Judge the judicial official was referenced by a news outlet as saying that he was looking for publicity, adding that he was mistaken to believe he would not experience repercussions.
Grande has not spoken about the situation.
The co-star mentioned the incident to a media outlet, remarking that she "only aimed to ensure my colleague was secure."
"I'm sure he didn't intend us injury, but you can't predict with these incidents, and I aimed to ensure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she stated.
