The former Liverpool manager admits rejoining to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is an option. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, currently occupies positions as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured the league title last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would embrace the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I declared I won't manage any other side in England. Which implies in case it's my former club...yes. It's plausible.”
“Being 58, which suggests the choice could be mine later on, I don’t know. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I can just see what lies ahead.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on which situations would need to occur to tempt his return to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.
“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, however, dining out with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood in the building. I still have Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the tweaks which secured the championship last campaign. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, though he denied the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and its impact for the team. The Portugal international died tragically in a vehicle collision with his brother in July.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the dressing room absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A profound tragedy for all the boys also. No one within the club might employ it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it individually is challenging. Impossible.”
