The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure by Critical Role, revealed an exciting opening credits. It features our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for characters such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

Overall, the opening appears stunning. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by artist the talented musician. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I suspect that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

But for me, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when cast member the performer wrote words to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you start an episode of fantasy hijinks.

The show's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the animated show will have a few changes and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its opening appears as one of them.
