Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup With the Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial championship series after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for our team, the city, Canada," said Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, ranking him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another person in the world that I want up in that moment besides him with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he continued.
Toronto's team won the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
